Updates!

The 2011 Night of Lights was a HUGE! success. Thanks to Sandi Gray-Terri for organizing and to all of the neighbors who participated. The set-up in the park was great fun with the UKE orchestra coming out to play carols for us.  There  is talk of making set-up of the park next year even more of a party!

ECWA challenge was met! 25 neighbors became members of the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association before the end of the year. As a result, DPNA will contribute $250 to ECWA and their efforts to restore and maintain our lil'creek.

Tree Planting in the park was also a big success! Approximately 50 volunteers came out to the park and planted 50 new trees in a plan to control erosion and begin the next generation of trees. Alex Johnson, Durham's arborist was extremely pleased with the turnout. Parks and Rec will care for our trees by watering them regularly. Please keep an eye on the trees when you are in the park- if you notice one that looks stressed, please email the board so that we can try to save it!

DPNA supported a family through Share A Christmas this past season. The mom was very appreciative of the help and says 'Thank You!" to Duke Park neighbors for helping her out this year!
